It is my mission to forge sustainable systems in which leaders collaborate across difference to create indelible organizations and healthy communities on local and global scales. I envision a world in which the global culture appreciates the ultimate concerns of its citizens. Actualizing such a culture requires leaders to understand systems of power, prize and practice transparency, integrate diverse voices, navigate conflict, and cultivate communities capable of meeting human and environmental needs. Strong leaders need strong support. Healthy communities need equitable growth. A masters degree in Ethics and a decade of community engagement inform how I cultivate relationships to build and support healthy systems primed for growth.
As a community organizer and volunteer leader, I currently oversee five distinct nonprofit units under the umbrella of New York State Parent Teacher Association (NYSPTA, a 501(c)3), tasked with event planning, bridge-building, and education advocacy. We harness the energies of over 700 members and 25 volunteer leaders to lobby at the local, state, and national levels for equitable funding and inclusive K-12 education policies. In my role, I train volunteer leaders in effective outreach, mediate between individuals and teams, create and conduct conflict resolution workshops, and develop rising leaders.
Previously, as Manager of Volunteers for the All Stars Project, I drove company visibility by increasing corporate-volunteer partnerships by 50%. As a fundraising event producer for All Stars, I exceeded our fundraising goal by 15% in my debut year. I recruited, trained, and managed over 100 volunteer staff and participants in event production, community organizing, and fundraising.
It is my pleasure to serve on the Wellness, Community Engagement, and DEI Committees for my local Board of Education. In my tenure, the board has passed the first voter-approved bond in over a decade, and initiated a district-wide translation program to increase ENL parent involvement, educational equity, and community engagement.
Additionally, I support and guide the work of the Executive Director in my role as Board President of Spectrum Arts Productions, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit that creates shared space for seniors and teens to collaborate artistically to alleviate isolation and build community.
